Aer Lingus announce 50pc pay cut for staff amid coronavirus uncertainty

Aer Lingus staff are being hit with a 50pc pay cut as the airline slashes capacity due to the impact of the coronavirus. In a circular to staff today seen by the Irish Independent, Aer Lingus said the “sharp and swift global decline in demand for air travel is without precedent”. Aer Lingus is part of IAG, which also owns British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and Level. IAG bought Aer Lingus in 2015 and has since significantly expanded the Irish airline’s transatlantic network. Staff will be on reduced working hours while the Aer Lingus schedule is curtailed.
