An advocacy group in the US has come up with a proposal under which Green Card aspirants will have to pay an additional one-time $2,500 fee to get America’s coveted legal permanent residency. “This is a win-win (situation) for everybody,” Leon Fresco, working with the Immigration Voice, told PTI. This can be used for border security,” Kapoor said, adding there is an overwhelming support among the Green Card applicants on this. “This fee will not be paid by the companies, but the Green Card applicant,” Kapoor said in response to a question. “The overriding purpose of the employment-based Green Card system is to provide permanent residence to individuals who add value to the US economy.
