An infectious disease adviser to the government, Professor David Hui, said today that authorities should only consider resuming classes at schools and universities once Hong Kong has gone 28 consecutive days without a single locally transmitted coronavirus case, RTHK reports. Schools have been shut since the Lunar New Year holiday due to the virus outbreak, and will remain closed until at least April 20. There have been calls for secondary schools to open first to check how infection control measures are working. The professor, who sits on the government's advisory panel over virus control measures, said only once this happens should containment measures be relaxed and schools and universities re-opened. He said younger students could then go back to school after another 14-day period.
