Adventurer's long, bumpy road back from concussion

At that point Emma was also a keen rock climber, scuba diver, surf lifesaver and runner. In 2015 she suffered a moderate traumatic brain injury during a whitewater kayaking incident on the grade 3+ Tully River in Townsville. She immediately had concussion symptoms and knew this was worse than a few minor concussions she'd had before. I suggested she join me on a sea kayaking trip in Alaska as a goal post, less intense than rivers. After our kayaking trip in Alaska, Emma slowly started to do more outdoor trips and rebuild her confidence, strength, fitness and identity.
