Adventure seekers told not to try your luck in jungles, waterfalls during monsoon

KUANTAN: Outdoor enthusiasts are reminded to postpone hiking and picnic activities at waterfalls in anticipation of bad weather during the monsoon season. A state Fire and Rescue department spokesman said visiting waterfalls during the rainy spell could expose people to dangers including getting lost in the jungle or being swept away by strong currents. "However, since the department cannot station people to monitor the sites round-the-clock, some stubborn individuals attempt to enter the sites without out knowledge. "We hope the public will check with the Fire and Rescue department, and Forestry department before planning their trips as we do not want anyone to be in danger," he said when contacted. As for Taman Tas Fire and Rescue department chief Mohd Idzhar Razali said visiting waterfalls during the rainy season is dangerous as it is difficult to predict the situation at the site.
