Advanced malware linked to South China Sea disputeSecure Labs has uncovered a strain of malware that appears to be targeting parties involved in the South China Sea territorial dispute. The malware has been dubbed NanHai Shu, in which NanHai means South Sea, and Shu means Rat, the animal. It has been a trending topic wherein the malware is deemed to have been from China. It has said that the emails attached contains malicious macro that embeds a JScript File. NanHai Shu is spread with a crafted spear-phising emails that contains industry-specific terms which is relevant to each of the targeted organizations, that is indicating specific emails that were designed with the target in mind.
