The German sport apparel brand will soon launch large-scale production for the first time of 3D-printed shoes. Adidas announced on Friday that the Bavarian brand will be 3D-printing shoe soles with new technology developed by American startup Carbon. Previously Adidas needed an hour and a half to print a shoe sole. The technology also departs from conventional 3D printing methods, using digital light projection, oxygen-permeable optics and programmable liquid resins. “Carbon has changed that; we’ve broken the cycle and are making it possible to go directly from design to production.
