KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem (pic) will meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday to discuss matters relating to the devolution of power to the state. Recently, Adenan had said that negotiations on devolution should begin immediately following the Federal Government's positive response to the state's request for the relevant historical documents to be considered in granting administrative and constitutional empowerment to Sarawak. Welcoming a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri over the matter, Adenan had said this meant there was “some response” from the Federal Government to the state’s request for talks. Adenan will submit two memoranda on the state government's position on devolution to the Prime Minister, the statement said, adding that the Chief Minister had spoken at length on the matter in the State Legislative Assembly sitting last month. It will take some time because the process is complex and drawn out but we are beginning to walk the talk now," he said earlier this week.
