KUALA LUMPUR: A Federal Territory delegate has raised concern that Umno might lose people’s support if the government is unable to control prices of goods effectively. Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar, from Umno Bandar Tun Razak division said there had been some dissatisfaction among the people, as well as party members at the grassroots level, with the spiraling prices of certain essential goods. “Umno members also are affected with the increase of prices of goods, but because of the party and ‘wala (loyalty)’ principle, we have been enduring this. “I am worried that this matter, if not being handled effectively ... is not something to be taken lightly and must be addressed immediately ”. “If the middle men are the one who caused price increase, if the traders are increasing prices to make more profit, jihadlah (fight them)’.
