Additional £10m for Cumbria regeneration and housing schemes

A business case submitted by Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council has convinced ministers to award Cumbria £10 million in capital funding "for investment in local growth." The additional £10 million in funding, revealed in a Westmorland & Furness Council report, will be distributed across six Cumbrian projects. Eden Housing Association will receive a £1 million allocation, supporting its efforts to deliver affordable homes in the area. Added after the Government gave approval for the funding, £0.8 million will be used by Westmorland & Furness Council to "support energy efficiency measures in community infrastructure." Cumbria Combined Authority was formally created on Tuesday, laying the groundwork for organisation to deliver strategic improvements in the county.
