A conversation with a cartoonist got Palmerston North artist Naga Tsutsumi thinking about a new way to put expression into his art. "I have painted words, but reading them is not the primary thing. As the titles reflect the painted words, they are not direct translations – messages under the picture's surface can be conveyed at some level." Naga Tsutsumi: Painted Words runs at the Zimmerman Art Gallery for the month of March.
