Dennis Venema and Scot McKnight know a thing or two about creationism, having grown up in conservative religious traditions that read the Bible literally. Among other things, this meant believing that the entire human race is descended from a single couple. Now, they've teamed up to write Adam and the Genome, published by Brazos Press. To date, every genetic analysis estimating ancestral population sizes has agreed that we descend from a population of thousands, not a single ancestral couple. And Venema himself serves as an encouraging rebuke to the claim by creationists that embracing evolution inevitably leads to ambracing atheism.
