PETALING JAYA: Childline Malaysia honourary project director Datin Wong Poai Hong and activist Syed Azmi have spoken up against corporal punishment in Malaysian schools. “Children need to know they have a right to speak up. People say (corporal punishment) is part of our culture but culture can be changed," she said. Syed Azmi said that a ban on caning alone would not work, and suggested that teachers and parents need to be educated instead.
