Activists raise concerns over jr college admissions

SYSCOM, the group which had filed the PIL, has raised concerns over in-house admissions and other quota admissions alleging that they are not as per the government’s previous guidelines. One of the major objections raised by the group is that the education department has not included in-house quota admissions in the centralised admission process. “As per SC guidelines, when a centralised admission process is in place, no admissions should be allowed at the institutional level. Another major issue as per Bafna is with the interpretation of in-house quota.”State government’s 1997 states that only those institutes in the same premise can be considered for in-house admissions. However the department has allowed any college of the same management even if it is in different premises for the quota.
