Honcques LausFreezing the bank accounts of anti-government fugitives in exile does not always deliver the sought-after punch in the pocket. Take the example of Honcques Laus, 18, a former member of pro-independence Studentlocalism. Laus- wanted by police for allegedly breaching the national security law - says on his social media platform that all he lost was HK$47.23 in his Bank of China account in Hong Kong. The account was targeted after he fled Hong Kong for Britain days before the national security law was implemented on June 30. But Laus is miffed by the behavior of SAR authorities for arbitrarily suspending private assets of Hongkongers, saying that hurts the reputation of the SAR as a financial center.
