A 31-year-old activist has been sentenced to 21 months for throwing eggs at the police headquarters and officers on June 21 last year, as thousands of Hong Kong protestors surrounded the police headquarters. Pun Ho-chiu, also known as “Occupy Mong Kok Painter”, faced counts of taking part in an unauthorized assembly, criminal damage and seven counts of assault on police officers. Magistrate Winnie Lau Yee-wan delivered his verdict at the Eastern Magistrates’ Court today, saying Pun’s actions of throwing eggs and insulting the officers could incite others to follow suit. Lau also said the defendant had been a leading role when the incident happened, the eggs he threw could also jam the escalators at the police headquarters, causing catastrophic consequences.
