Shiromani Akali Dal leadership ‘gheraoed’ residence of Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh’s ‘Moti Mahal’ to protest against his stand in favour of 1984 anti-Sikh riot accused Sajjan Kumar and other Congress leaders. The SAD leaders burnt Amarinder’s effigy before his house. Leaders including MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, cabinet minister Surjit Singh Rakhra, SAD treasurer and MLA NK Sharma, MLAs Vaninder Kaur Loomba, Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur, Farzana Alam, Iqbal Singh Jhunda, SAD district president Surjit Singh Kohli and others participated in the rally. Addressing the gathering, Chandumajra, Rakhra and NK Sharma said by giving clean chit to Sajjan Kumar and other accused, Capt Amarinder Singh has rubbed salt on the wounds of Sikhs. Chandumajra said Capt Amarinder Singh has never uttered a word in favour of the victims of the ‘Sikh genocide’ and has always been ready to defend the accused of that massacre.
