A 24-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison Thursday in connection with a suspected illegal street race in Hawthorne last year that killed a popular elementary school music teacher. She spoke before Alfredo Perez Davila was sentenced on a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter. Originally, Davila faced one count each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter and engaging in a speed contest, according to prosecutors.
