Academic hits out at Tony Pua over Opposition Private Member's Bills - Nation

PETALING JAYA: A Universiti Utara Malaysia academic has hit out at DAP’s Tony Pua for claiming that no Private Member’s Bill from the Opposition has ever been heard in Parliament. In a statement on Monday, Kamarul Zaman Yusoff said that many motions and Private Member’s Bills by the Opposition have been tabled in Parliament. He pointed out that there were three Private Member's Bills tabled in 1977. “On Oct 24 1977, three Private Member’s Bills were presented by two DAP Members of Parliament, namely (then) Kinta MP Ngan Siong Hing and (then) Kota Melaka MP Lim Kit Siang," said Kamarul. Lim had tabled a Private Member's Bill to enact the Workers Protection and Minimum Wage Act 1977.
