LAHORE: Punjab government informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday that there was a substantial quantity of wheat available in the flour mills and in the market. According to details, during the hearing of a case pertaining to the shortage of wheat in the province, Punjab additional chief secretary informed the court that over 2.3 million tons of wheat available in the market. LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh, who heard the plea, inquired whether the wheat was smuggled, given to Afghan refugees or taken to other provinces. To which the ACS informed the court that there was a substantial quantity of wheat available in the flour mills and in the market. The high court then adjourned the hearing until January 31 and has sought response from the federal government.
