Abeba Embiale Elected into African Union Anti-Corruption Board – Ethiopian Monitor


ADDIS ABABA – Abeba Embiale, Vice President of the Ethiopian Federal Supreme Court, has been elected into the African Union Advisory Board against Corruption. The AU Executive Council over the weekend elected and appointed members of several AU organs in its Nairobi meeting. The Advisory Board against Corruption was one of the five organs that saw four new members elected and one other reelected to serve for a two-year term. Meanwhile, the AU executive council also voted four commissioners in for the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR). Headquartered in the Gambian capital Banjul, ACHPR is entrusted to lead continental efforts to protect and promote human rights and interpret the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
