Abe, Moon agree to coordinate for stronger N Korea sanctions

MOSCOW/SEOUL - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Moon Jae In agreed on Thursday to closely coordinate for new, tougher sanctions against North Korea, during talks in the far-eastern Russian port city of Vladivostok. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, comes four days after North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test, which drew worldwide condemnation. "Repeated provocative actions by North Korea pose an unprecedented, grave and major threat," Abe told reporters, the Kyodo news agency reported. A US-drafted resolution includes a proposal to freeze North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's assets and an oil embargo. The four launchers were in addition to others that have already been installed in South Korea since March.
