Abdel Mohsen Salama was voted head of the Journalists Syndicate, the committee supervising syndicate elections announced on Friday evening. Each of Hussein Al-Zanaty, Mohamed Kharaga and Gamal Abdel Rehim won as 'senior category' members, while Amr Badr, Mohamed Saad Abdel Hafiz and Ayman Abdel Meguid won as ‘regular category’ members. Abdel Rehim garnered 1,182 votes; Kharaga gained 1,152 votes; while Al-Zanatywon 1,165 votes. Badr gained 778 votes, Abdel Meguid, 673; and Abdel Hafiz, 831 votes. Journalists Syndicate mid-term elections--in which the head of the Syndicate and six new board members are elected--took place on Friday after the quorum was reached.
