KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak government is studying the viability of electric-powered buses, which could be introduced in the state within the next 10 years. Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg (pic) said the state would carry out a study with experts before introducing the electric buses. "We will test our charging stations for the buses first, which will be implemented in Kuching for the pilot project. Abang Johari said the electric buses would complement the LRT system that the state is looking to build within the next three years. He added that the route would cover Kuching, Samarahan and all the way to Serian and that buses would transport passengers to and from the LRT stations.
