more-inKozhikode: Efforts to mitigate water crisis during the impending summer are in full swing in the district, with focus on reviving abandoned water sources within the limits of various grama panchayats. The district panchayat has so far identified 61 rich water sources, which will be revived shortly to meet local requirements during the drought season. Of the 61 ponds identified, 11 have been repaired. The renovation of the Kuttiyadi irrigation project was also proposed as one of the high-priority schemes for the consideration of the DDC. Replying to concerns raised at the meeting, Irrigation Department officials said the government had already sanctioned funds for completing as many as 33 important projects, including renovation of canals.
