Former anti-corruption agency chief Aaron Ringera has joined the race for the Chief Justice post. They are Supreme Court judge Smokin Wanjala, appeal court judge Alnashir Visram, his counterparts David Maraga, and Roselyne Nambuye. Twenty-one candidates have applied for the single vacancy in the Supreme Court. JSC will present one name to President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointment as Chief Justice, most likely by October.
