AU facilitates return of thousands from Libyafrom ADANE BIKILA in Addis Ababa, EthiopiaADDIS ABABA, (CAJ News) – SOME 15 000 migrants have been assisted to return home from Libya through the voluntary humanitarian returns programme. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) facilitated the returns with the support of the European Union (EU) and the cooperation of the African Union (AU). This fulfils the targets announced by AU and EU joint taskforce in December. Catherine Ray, AU spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said joint work would continue in the weeks to come. “The resettlement of refugees from Libya has been significantly scaled up,” she said.
