CAUTION DISCARDEDAnother narrative held that the disease is no worse than the common flu, and any stringent public health measures amounted to an overreaction. Burundian authorities allegedly kicked out WHO teams that had been supporting the health sector to plan for and deal with the pandemic. It would appear that the Burundian leadership believed that Covid-19 was not a severe enough illness to warrant the strict public health measures their neighbours had instituted. Like the man said, better safe than sorry!
