AP Explains: Corruption trial against Argentina’s Fernández

(Natacha Pisarenko, File/Associated Press)BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Former Argentine President Cristina Fernández and her current presidential running mate Alberto Fernández launch their campaign Saturday with a political rally on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Cristina Fernández recently surprised many when she announced that she will run for vice president instead of the presidency. Detractors blame Fernández for endemic corruption and the deterioration of Argentina’s economy.
