The Guptas and Mr Zuma deny any wrongdoing. Jackson Mthembu, the ANC chief whip, said parliament would now vote on a no-confidence motion on Thursday. The ANC has a majority in parliament and opposition parties will not support Mr Zuma. This raises the possibility that Mr Ramaphosa, who is deputy president, could replace Mr Zuma by the weekend or even earlier. The party may be forced to move a no-confidence motion in parliament to force Zuma out.
