AMS appeals teachers & principals to suspend trade union action

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Association of Medical Specialists urged Teachers and Principals to temporarily suspend the trade union action purely for the safety and health of the nation in the middle of the deadly pandemic. In a statement, the AMS urged the government to consider the reasonable demands of Principals and Teachers in a favorable manner and initiate a dialogue at the highest level to resolve this crisis. In an Urgent Open appeal to Principal and Teacher trade unions and the Government, the Association of Medical Specialists requested the government to ensure that all the principals and teachers are given both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and allow adequate time to develop their immunity before they resume school activities. Whilst focusing on the surging COVID-19 infections due to the deadly DELTA variant the Association of Medical Specialists stressed “We all should be more considerate of ordinary citizens than politicians in a more pragmatic approach. If the pandemic reaches catastrophic levels our crafty politicians may even frame teachers as solely responsible for generating “DELTA clusters'” and we sense that they have already started working on this.”
