We're just a week away from hopefully knowing more about AMD's plans for its Zen 2-based 3rd Generation Ryzen processors and more rumors are surfacing of AMD's new CPU's performance. To start with, AMD's current 16-core CPU, the Threadripper 2950X, scored 3,208 in Cinebench R15 when I reviewed it and that score won't have changed much if I tested it again today. This means that the claimed score is adding more than 1,000 points - around 30% more performance, yet there are no additional cores. Antony LeatherHowever, there are some rumors and indeed facts that might add an element of truth to this performance claim. Another aspect of AMD's CES reveal was power consumption, where the 3rd Generation Ryzen system drew 133W, while the Intel Core i9-9900K sucked 180W from the wall.
