The nation’s largest physician group, the American Medical Association, joined Planned Parenthood in an unusual show of forces from the organized medical community against the Trump administration’s effort to change the Title X family planning program. The Trump administration rule unveiled last week would prohibit family planning clinics that are funded by the Title X program from making referrals for abortions. Historically, the AMA has shied away from family planning measures, particularly when it comes to controversial issues like abortion. "Yet, the rule would eliminate current requirements that Title X sites offer a broad range of medically approved family planning options," the AMA said. Planned Parenthood Federation of America called the rule "unethical, illegal, and dangerous."
