The ruling party's Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak wonders how the media published reports on the Amnesty claims if the freedom of expression is curbed in Bangladesh. In the report released on Tuesday, Amnesty International said the government has stifled freedom of expression by failing to protect dissenters and using repressive laws and tactics. Another Awami League Joint General Secretary, Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif, also made similar comments on the Amnesty report at the same programme. He claimed Bangladesh is experiencing more freedom of expression than it had any other time. In another press conference, Awami League leader Hasan Mahmud said the Amnesty report was 'biased'.
