AL leader uses govt workers for personal projects

A local Awami League leader is found to have employed workers under a government project financed by the World Bank in his own personal projects in Bogra. Abdus Sattar, president of Chopinagar unit of Awami League in Shajahanpur, used his political influence to meddle in the project and compel workers to work in his personal projects instead of working at the designated sites. Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Shajahanpur Shafiul Islam visited the project site on Wednesday and found three workers working on other projects on the instructions of Sattar. The Awami League leader is not officially affiliated with the project. “Since the accused Awami League leader [Sattar] confessed to using the workers for his personal work, he was let off with a warning,” Shafiul told the Dhaka Tribune.
