The deceased—Badal Mia, 40, who hailed from Nogor Jolfoi area—was the organizing secretary of eastern Tangail region’s Awami League. Locals blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway after the accident. Police sergeant of Tangail traffic police Rajan Datta said: "On Friday afternoon, while going home on a motorcycle, Badal Mia was hit by a Dhaka-bound bus. The injured was admitted to Tangail General Hospital, and Badal's body was sent to the morgue for autopsy, Rajan said.
