Up 4-2 over the Okotoks Oilers late in Game 1 on March 7, the Calgary Canucks scored an empty-net goal with 1:48 left in the game to give them a 5-2 lead. At the same time as the goal was scored, Oilers forward Quinn Olson received a 10-minute misconduct — a penalty that should have removed him from play. Instead, Canucks head coach Brad Moran said at the time Olson was on the ice 35 seconds later when the Oilers scored to narrow the lead. The initial ruling was appealed by the Calgary Canucks, the league said. The Oilers eventually swept the Canucks in the first-round series, before facing the Camrose Kodiaks in round two winning the series 4-1.zlaing@postmedia.comwww.twitter.com/zjlaing
