NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Friday held a hearing on the AIADMK symbol row, just after the Supreme Court granted it time till November 10 to decide the claims by different factions of the party.The lawyers of E Palanasami and O Panneerselvam , the two AIADMK leaders who have since sunk their differences and now stand united, put forth their arguments before the Commission during the two-hour hearing. Both Mukul Rohatgi, who was representing Palanisamy, and C S Vaidyanathan, appearing for Panneerselvam, argued that the whole party was with them and that the 'two-leaves' symbol should be allotted to them.The EC posted October 13 as the next date for hearing. Dhinakaran's lawyer is expected to put forth his arguments on that day.Though the Commission had also sent a notice to J Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar, who had written to EC insisting that she was the former's legal heir and staking claim to the party symbol, informing her of today's hearing on AIADMK symbol row, she or her lawyer was not present today.
