Artificial-intelligence startup Eightfold AI Inc. hired a former Twitter Inc. executive as its first chief financial officer to help grow its business and prepare a potential initial public offering. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company—which last week named Celia Poon its finance chief—is focused on solving a riddle that has befuddled companies in an era of low unemployment. Eightfold uses deep learning and artificial intelligence to help companies find, recruit and retain workers. Ms. Poon also previously held finance roles at Twitter, Zynga Inc. and Yahoo. Last year, the company employed around 150 people, and plans to at least triple its headcount, Mr. Garg said.
