AHS shuts down southern Alberta school sleepovers for failing to meet health guidelines

Alberta Health Services has put a stop to a number of sleepovers planned for incoming Grade 12 students at Medicine Hat and area high schools. In a letter addressed to organizers of the events at Crescent Heights, Medicine Hat, Monsignor McCoy and Eagle Butte High Schools, AHS indicated the events failed to meet mandatory guidelines set out by the province's chief medical officer of health. "As well as restriction of all indoor social events to no more than 50 persons and outdoor events with no seating to 100 persons. At least two of the sleepovers have now been cancelled, according to AHS, while one group has been working with officials to make sure the event meets all health guidelines. We appreciate that the event organizers have revisited the events and are working with us."
