Sports minister, Sunday Dare, in a statement on Friday announced the dissolution of the boards of the 31 sporting federations. In their place, Dare appointed caretaker committees made up of three members each to run the affairs of the federations. “In keeping with the Olympic Charter, which stipulates a four-year tenure for all Sports Federations Boards, the tenure of the National Olympic Sports Federations in Nigeria have come to an end. While majority of the presidents of the federations returned as chairmen of the caretaker committees, seven federations had new persons as chairmen. Maj. Gen. Johnny Hamakim was named chairman of the Nigeria Shooting Federation caretaker committee, while Grace Iyorcha heads the Nigeria Rugby Federation.
