“Because of the success of SEA Games, it was us who started esports as a medal sport. So, [there] should be a continuity of esports in the Vietnam SEA Games. In the AESF letter, Director General Sebastian Lau encouraged federation members to unite and collaborate for one common goal — rally for the return of esports in next year’s Vietnam SEA Games. In Manila last December, Esports debuted at the 30tht SEA Games, where the Philippines won three of the six gold medals at stake. Recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia, the Hong Kong-based ASEF has 45 member countries, including 11 nations in the SEA Games Federation.
