The assistance package is expected to benefit over 15 million poor and vulnerable people in BangladeshThe Asian Development Bank (ADB), the regional lender, will provide Bangladesh $500 million loan to strengthen its efforts to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Fatima Yasmin, Secretary, Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Manmohan Parkash, Country Director, ADB, remotely signed the loan agreements on behalf of Bangladesh and ADB, respectively. The assistance package is expected to benefit over 15 million poor and vulnerable people in Bangladesh. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is also planning to provide $250 million in cofinancing with ADB to support the government’s program. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Bangladesh today signed $500 million loan agreements to strengthen Bangladesh’s efforts to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
