ACC files charge sheet against two including ex-minister Latif Siddiqui in a corruption case


Abdul Latif Siddiqui Dhaka TribuneThe former minister is accused of incurring a loss of over Tk40.69 lakh to the public exchequerThe Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has field the charge sheet in a corruption case filed against two people, including former jute and textiles minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui. The commission’s Bogra office Assistant Director Md Aminul Islam submitted the charge sheet at the district’s Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Aminul, who started investigating the corruption allegations in 2014, had filed the case on October 17, 2017 at the Adamdighi police station accusing Latif Siddiqui and one Begum Jahanara Rashid. By selling the land at Tk23.94 lakh instead of its market price of at least Tk64.63 lakh, Siddiqui made a criminal breach of trust and incurred a loss of Tk40.69 lakh to the public exchequer. Both Siddiqui and Jahanara are yet to be arrested.
