Residents of Chennai’s Boat Club Road area recounted how ABM Avenue, a road running through their community, had been in a dug-up state for a long time, yet 48 hours before Naidu arrived, presumably to meet his daughter who lives in that vicinity, the mammoth task of setting the road right was attacked by a fully-equipped crew for road-construction. “Once that was complete, they had a cement truck ready to fill the channel with cement… Meanwhile, they completed work along the rest of the avenue,” a resident noted. Some residents of this community said that they had not witnessed such promptness and high level of efficiency in road repairs before. Contrarily, ABM Avenue had been in a dug-up state for several months. “Before” and “after” photographs of the sections of ABM Avenue that had undergone repairs and upgrade hint at the rapid, dramatic change brought about overnight.
