Amid the celebrations surrounding the 75th anniversary of the setting up of the United Nations (UN), the global multilateral project is in open disarray. This has perhaps been the most significant fallout on the global order of the covid-19 pandemic. The global order that emerged after the end of World War II was a product of its time. To many in India, it is not readily evident if the global multilateral order will be able to reform itself and cope with rising geopolitical tensions and new security challenges. If the extant multilateral order will not work to secure Indian interests, then New Delhi will have to look for alternatives.
