Truth be told, it is yet another reminder of why New Zealanders can't afford a Labour-led Government. When you add up all of the new taxes and consider the cancelled tax relief that National had in place. Instead, the cost of living is rising – more taxes, rising prices for goods and services, growing debt levels and rising unemployment means that there is less opportunity. And now as we hit the worst of winter, electricity prices are forecast to rise dramatically. National promises there will be no new taxes in our first term should we earn the right to govern in 2020.
