A third of adults suffering Covid-19 income hit can't afford household basics


A new Resolution Foundation report found that the ongoing crisis had increased the divide in how low and high-income households are coping financially. Seven in ten households who experienced a fall in income during the initial lockdown were still reporting an income drop in September. High earners were more likely to have seen their family budgets improve compared with before the pandemic. But in contrast low-income households were more than twice as likely to have seen their budgets fall. For high-income adults, spending reductions have in many cases left family budgets in a better place overall.
