Stacy Beach sees a wide range of students make their way through the marketing research course she teaches in George Brown College’s marketing certificate program. It is this diversity, she says, that allows her and other faculty members to help students discover the benefits of peer learning while gaining a practical education. “That adds up to a lot of unique perspectives, which students have the opportunity to share during interactions that turn into discussions that help them to grasp concepts even better.”The program serves as an introduction to marketing for beginners while also offering a more rounded view of marketing for those employed in the field. It consists of six courses and covers areas such as introductory marketing, advertising and communications, digital marketing, marketing research and strategy, and professional selling. “It is really a tasting menu for folks so they can join a company and understand the marketing world while giving them an idea of the different areas they may want to focus on in the future,” says Beach.
