A story of trees and roading repairs

It was poor prices for our beef, mutton and wool in those years that convinced many farmers in our hinterlands of the advantages of planting pines as a long-term investment. It must also be acknowledged that this land, perhaps unsuitable for pastoral farming, would be better suited to trees. Our NZ roading networks are made up of State Highways funded fully by Land Transport NZ (LTNZ) from fuel taxes and road user charges. Don't get me wrong, as I said earlier I have no issues with trees but I want to see we get our share of money collected for roading repairs, which is just what Mayor Neil Volzke is saying. Neil I wish you every success in negotiating our council's fair share of roading subsidy to combat this serious problem.
